Health Benefits of Elk Meat

Are you watching your diet?  Trying to eat a leaner, low-fat, low-cholesterol diet?  Did you know that Elk Meat is roughly equivalent nutritionally to white meat chicken?  Don't take our word for it, check it out for yourself!  I took these numbers directly from the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference:

100 grams of raw meat Fat Cholesterol Protein Potassium
Game meat, elk, raw 1.45 grams 55 mg 22.95 grams 312 mg
Chicken, broilers or fryers, breast, meat only, raw 1.24 grams 58 mg 23.09 grams 255 mg
Beef, composite of trimmed retail cuts, separable lean and fat, trimmed to 1/8" fat, all grades, raw 17.15 grams 66 mg 18.68 grams 306 mg

(100 grams = 3.5 ounces)

As you can see, Elk is low in fat, low in cholesterol, and high in protein and potassium.  All very key things you want to look for in a lean, healthy diet.  Hey, we like chicken here are Rosse Posse Acres too.  But when you're craving something other than chicken that will not bust your diet, you should seriously consider ELK.  Go ahead and fire up the grill and fix yourself a nice, big, tasty elk burger; it's OK because it's healthy!
